Cubik & Origami - Bought & SoldTwo guys from San Francisco, a pile of instruments, and a deep love of dirty, neon-hued music - that's been the Cubik & Origami story since 2001.  Fans of Prismatic Tracks will already know of Origami's collaborations with Andrew Phelan, but this is his first production work with Cubik for their hometown label.  The result is a unique blend of swaggering, chunky tech house, brimming with live textures and deceptively catchy vocals.  A very tidy remix package comes courtesy of the eccentric Q-Burns Abstract Message, Lost My Dog's Pete Dafeet, Latvian wonderkid Artie Flexs and Origami's alter ego George Cochrane.

Magazine Reviews..

Our House Mag - 4/5
Cubik & Origami debut on San Francisco's Prismatic with a chunky, gritty and distorted houser that throws a big curveball (in a very good way!) halfway through courtesy of Origami's sweet and soulful vocal.  Pete Dafeet delivers the choice remix, subtly working in the vocal over the second half of a low slung, emotional and quite beautifully textured groove.  Q-Burns Abstract Message goes in a stripped-back leftfield house direction, rising star Artie Flexs aims for the jugular with a driving, progressive take and Origami re-appears under his George Cochrane pseudonym for a broken down reconstruction.

5 Mag

Prismatic does a great job again with another quality-sounding and well-formatted release. There is plenty to choose from, so you are sure to find something you are feeling.

Cubik & Origami
Cubik & Origami

Originally known for the slow-burning downtempo funk of their eponymous debut on Wide Hive Records, and an intricate beatbox/instrumental EP in 2007, Cubik & Origami then broadened their outlook, quilting electro, IDM and indie rock details into their second full length, 'Slept In On Doomsday'.  The resulting record drew comparisons to such disparate acts as Jamie Lidell, Danger Mouse and The Album Leaf.  Skilled musicians, producers and house enthusiasts, now the duo are turning their attention in a 4/4 direction.  Playing live, Cubik & Origami remix their music in real time and weave in live vocals, bass, drums, and keyboards, to the delight of basement revellers and forest creatures alike.
